It is with great sadness that our MMIA family said good-bye to two longtime members recently.

Sharon Piper passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023. Sharon was a member of the Hamilton Co. Silvernotes serving as president of that chorus for many years. She was a part of the original advisory board when the Extension Chorus was a member chorus of the Purdue Musical Organization. When Melody Makers of Indiana became an independent organization Sharon continued in her leadership role becoming a board member and serving as Secretary for many years. When her terms ended she volunteered to serve as an advisor to the board. To the end she was an ardent champion of MMIA and the love of music. Sharon will be greatly missed.

Gibson County's Director, Derek Barton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 21, 2023 with his family by his side. He was director of the Gibson County Chorus for 30 years. The chorus members appreciate and celebrate his teaching, his music knowledge and his friendship. He will be greatly missed.
